We published a rather special article today, just in time for some last-minute holiday shopping. Everybody would of course love to have the latest and greatest of graphics cards, but do you know whether your computer can actually get the most out of a high-end graphics card? If you’re going to spend that much money on a video card, you obviously want to get the performance you expect. And there are other components that can be a performance bottleneck, your processor for example. We set out to find out exactly which AMD and Intel processors are required to squeeze every single available fps from a high-end graphics card. We tested the Radeon HD 7970 and GeForce GTX 680 in combination with 10 different CPUs, ranging from low-end to top-of-the-line.
