More Americans Read News Online Than Anywhere Else

It's a small wonder that many of the nation's newspaper chains are disappearing: they are being replaced by the Internet for news. In a recent survey, the Pew research Center reported a drop of newspaper readers from 47% in 2000 to 23% in 2012. Even more impressive is the rise of social media's importance in the news landscape. "The percentage of Americans saying they saw news or news headlines on a social networking site yesterday has doubled – from 9% to 19% – since 2010"
