DOOM 3 BFG Edition Screws PC Users?

As I was reading the DOOM 3 BFG Edition FAQ, I couldn't help but notice that console owners will be able to enjoy DOOM & DOOM II multiplayer but PC owners get hosed. On PC there is no multiplayer options for Doom and Doom II.
