Samsung's new CEO encourages staff to see bright side of economic downturn
@ 2012/06/20Kwon Oh-hyun has urged staff to see the benefits in the upheaval the electronics industry is facing.
Samsung's new CEO is encouraging the company's employees to use this downturn as a way to “strengthen competitiveness" by seeing it as a "chance for takeoff”.
In his official address to staff, the CEO, who inherited his position earlier this month, said the world was seeing a “paradigm shift led by corporations with soft competitiveness”.
According to the Korea Joongang Daily, he added that the tech market, as a result, “should never be hesitant or complacent with the status quo, but should strive to become a more creative company by facing challenges and pursuing innovations”.
Kwon, who previously led two separate divisions at the company, also told staff that Samsung stood at a turning point to "become a global top player in a true sense”.
Kwon replaced Choi Gee-sung as CEO after he was given the role of corporate strategy officer last week.
