Sony To Stop Paying for 3D Glasses Next Year

How to make sure your 3D movie flops in three easy steps: 1.) Charge $15.50 per ticket. 2.) Charge $14.50 for popcorn and a drink. 3.) Stop providing 3D glasses for your own movie so that movie goers have to buy those too. Sony Pictures Entertainment has notified theater owners in a letter that it will no longer pay for 3D glasses as of May 1, 2012, marking a major policy shift that many other studios are likely considering. "This is an issue that has to be resolved between us and our exhibition partners. We are trying to give them a very lengthy lead time in regards to the change in policy," Sony worldwide president of distribution Rory Bruer said.
