Caseking exclusive: BitFenix Merc Alpha/Beta – affordable but potent Midi-Tower

@ 2011/09/28
Berlin, 10th of August 2011 – BitFenix presents their newest chassis named the Merc. It is an affordable midi-tower, while still managing to impress with a long list of features. The two versions „Alpha“ and „Beta“ offer both the silent or the performance user the perfect choice. While the Beta sports a closed case ceiling, the Alpha allows the installation of up to eight fans.

The Merc ships in a stylish but understated black. BitFenix has taken the same approach when naming the chassis as they did with the Shinobi. Stealth elements and a matte color choice make up the overall design of the Merc. Even in the Summer, this mercenary won't break a sweat as there are plenty of options to install the fans of your choice, allowing the hardware components access to fresh air on all conditions.

The outer design of the Merc doesn't give away this cooling potential, as the chassis is designed in such a way to only require small openings in the front and on the side. A mercenary doesn't have any weak spots after all! Even the I/O panel has not been placed in the front, but on the top of the chassis, giving you easy access in every scenario.

Even so, the Alpha and Beta versions of the Merc still have obvious differences. The Alpha offers additional fan openings in the ceiling of the chassis, giving the user even more expansion options. The interior can not only fit ATX or mATX mainboards, but mini-ITX as well.

The two internal cages can hold up to 11 drives. Four of these are externally accessible as there are three 5.35 inch slots and one 3.5 inch one. The Merc can also hold a slew of 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives. This flexibility also extends to the ventilation system as BitFenix has included a 120 mm exhaust fan in the rear while the Alpha can hold an additional seven fans. This also allows for large graphic cards to be used within Merc chassis.

On top of that, the interior design manages to impress as well. Aside from the all black pain job, even all the cables are kept in the same color. In short, the Merc delivers all the trades of a Mercenary, ready for the big fight.

The BitFenix Merc Alpha midi-tower in black along with the BitFenix Merc Beta midi-tower in black will be available from September, for a mere 32.90 Euro at www.caseking.de
