Caseking exclusive: BitFenix Outlaw Midi Tower

@ 2011/09/28
Berlin, 26th of August 2011 – After the Merc, BitFenix is presenting their newest chassis with extraordinary looks by the name of Outlaw. The unique aspect of this budget enclosure is the interior design, as the mainboard is installed upside down. Thanks to the bottom mounted power supply there is lots of space in the ceiling of the chassis for the installation of water cooling systems. A black interior, top I/O with four USB along with audio connectivity, a SofTouch surface and cable management round up the impressive features of the chassis.

BitFenix can be considered one of the driving factors of designer cases, like the unique look and functionality of the Colossus, which has a large fan base. The creative individuals behind the company keep pushing the envelope of what is considered to be possible in the industry.

While the Colossus series can be considered a very elaborate chassis in terms of design, with its spectacular side panel and lighting options, the Outlaw goes in a different direction. True to its name and like the actual Outlaw of classic Westerns, the chassis does not require an elaborate set of extras to prove its usability.

The exterior design of the Outlaw is understated upon first sight, just like a Bandit that blends into the crowd of spectators. Upon closer look there are subtle accents with mesh elements giving the entire SofTouch front the openings to draw air into the chassis. The black interior fits the budget chassis and overall design elements of the Outlaw, allowing you to show of your hardware in a unique way.

Even so, the Outlaw manages to impress with the unique aspect of having an upside down installation method of the mainboard - something you will not find in other cases at this price point. Thus, the access to the expansion slots is achieved by removing the right side panel instead of the left. This format also means that graphic cards are mounted upside down, with the fan facing upward, allowing for hot air to rise in the right direction, without heating up the CPU or graphic card PCB. This major advantage is further underlined by the ability to utilize fans in the ceiling to pull the hot air out of the system.

BitFenix ships the Outlaw with one 120 mm fan in the rear of the case, while you may install an additional 120 mm unit in the front and opt for either two 120 or 140 mm variants in the ceiling of the chassis. This expandability allows you to keep the system cool to master even the fiercest stand-offs at high noon.

The I/O panel offers four USB connectors, more than enough for most users, while an intelligent cable management system keeps order within the interior of the Outlaw chassis. On top of that, the included thumb screws allow for proper tool-less installation of the drives.

Four external 5.25 inch bays along with five internal ones (four 3.5 and one 2.5) offer loads of space for the most extravagant systems and plenty of expansion options for future upgrades. Thanks to the included 2.5 inch bay, users of SSDs are able to install such a drive without having to utilize additional brackets. The BitFenix logo has been included as a separate accessory and can be applied to the chassis if the user would like to do so.

The BitFenix Outlaw Midi Tower in black is available in the middle of September for a price of 39,90€ exclusively at www.caseking.de.
