Microsoft announced today at a special meeting for the first time a demonstration of Windows to its eight partners and a select delegation of the press. During the presentation, the new touch interface of Microsoft Windows displayed and demonstrated that the new operating system on different devices, not only with X86 processors but also ARM chips. Windows 7 works only with x86 processors from Intel and AMD, while energy-efficient ARM processor just popular for smartphones and tablets. Video cameras were not permitted during the demonstration, or cameras. And to be fair, Microsoft has convincingly shown the presentation that anyone who thinks that Windows and tablets by definition can not go together are completely wrong ...

The main data of the new Windows version is that it gets two different interfaces. First there is the usual interface as we know of Windows 7 with the focus on work with mouse and keyboard. In addition, a new interface that is fully optimized for touch use. This second skin looks a bit like a cross between Windows 7 and Windows Media Center Phone. Both run the same interface: you can switch between super fast and even side-by-side run parallel. Precisely the presence of both interfaces should the power of Windows 8: the easy touch interface for quick and simple applications on a iPad-like manner and the familiar Windows interface for complex tasks.

Microsoft demonstrated the new interface to various hardware, ranging from existing X86 tablet (like the Eee Slate EP121) developer of next-generation platforms based on ARM processors such as Nvidia quad-core chip Kal-El. On all platforms shown the new interface worked without any delay, the touch control appears to be as responsive as the Apple iPad. The proof: Windows can also be responsive to a tablet!
