ASUS ENGTX580 Video Card Review

@ 2010/12/20
The ASUS ENGTX580 is a great video card, but its value is somewhat undermined by multi-GPU competition from AMD. It is definitely a premium implementation of the GeForce GTX 580. Everything about it oozes quality, from the packaging to the video card itself. As it is, it costs more than its closest price competitors, but it offers lower frame rates. On the other hand it doesn’t rely on effective multi-GPU performance scaling. It is also quieter and it uses less power.

Gamers interested in this single-GPU powerhouse will have a hard time finding it. It is not currently in stock in any major online retailer. On the other hand, availability for the AMD Radeon HD 6870 is great. They are in stock at many places, and they are cheaper than the ASUS ENGTX580 in CrossFireX. Radeon HD 6870 CrossFireX offers the highest framerates, but that doesn’t always translate into a better gaming experience.
