Galaxy GeForce GTS 450 Super OC Overclocking

@ 2010/10/08
Galaxy’s GTS 450 Super OC comes out of the box with the GPU core clocked to 888MHz, which is 105MHz higher than NVIDIA’s reference specification. That puts the shader core at 1.776GHz, since the shader clock speed is bound to the GPU clock speed with a 2:1 ratio. The GPU overclock is respectable, but it is not going to shatter any performance records. The memory on the Galaxy GTS 450 Super OC is set to 4.0GHz DDR. Compared to NVIDIA’s reference spec of 3.6GHz DDR, it is also not a tremendous increase.

Even when highly overclocked, the GeForce GTS 450 cannot overcome the fact that it came to the market too late and offers nothing to win customers over from its primary competition. Overclocking the Galaxy GeForce GTS 450 Super OC is quite easy, and gave us generally positive results. It improved the experience of one game and improved the feel of others, while in others it made no appreciable difference whatsoever. So, while we experienced generally positive overclocking results, and there is nothing really wrong with the Galaxy GeForce GTS 450 Super OC, it is still difficult to recommend that any gamers go buy one.
