AMD Readies Bunch of New Processors to Refresh Back-to-School Lineup

@ 2010/08/12
Advanced Micro Devices plans to introduce a number of potentially popular microprocessors on the 21st of September, 2010, source familiar with AMD's plans revealed Wednesday. The firm will introduce a new member of its six-core chips family as well as its fastest quad-core central processing unit (CPU) ever.

It is quite noteworthy that AMD decided to perform a major update of the microprocessor lineup in late September, in the last days of the third quarter. Perhaps, the company feels that its present lineup is enough competitive for both back-to-school season as well as to ensure high revenue in the third quarter.
