NVIDIA cuts GTX 400 prices

@ 2010/08/06
Even before the release of the GeForce GTX 460, we had started seeing movements in the price of the GTX 470. Released at $350, barely faster than the HD 5850, along with all the thermal issues, the GTX 470 had a cold reception. Prices dropped to $330, to simulate demand. With the release of the extremely aggressively priced GTX 460, further pressure has been put on the higher end GF100 based cards. The GTX 465 made virtually no sense at $280, and the GTX 470 offered a relatively insignificant boost for the 70% premium. Even the GTX 480 came under pressure, with two GTX 460s in SLI destroying the single GTX 480 setup at a lower price point. It should be no surprise then, that NVIDIA is moving to cut prices of the GF100 based GTX 400 cards, as the demand is simply not as expected.
