OCZ announces the Z-Drive R2 PCI-Express SSDs

OCZ has just revealed to the world its second-generation Z-Drive series PCIe solid state drives which are aimed for use in storage area networks (SANs), workstations, and servers. Known as the Z-Drive R2 m84, R2 p84 and R2 p88, the new SSDs feature a PCI-Express x8 interface, MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips, an internal RAID 0 configuration, up to four Indilinx controllers, and have interchangeable modules for easy upgrades.

The Z-Drive R2 m84 SSDs go from 256GB to 1TB in capacity and deliver maximum read and write speeds of 800 MB/s and 750 MB/s, respectively, while the R2 p84 have similar specs but can reach 800 MB/s when writing. The R2 p88 drives go from 1TB to 2TB, and can offer transfer (both read and write) speeds of up to 1400 MB/s.
