Intel X25-V in RAID-0: Faster than X25-M G2 for $250?

Not to sound like a broken record, but with the exception of OCZ's Vertex LE, not much has changed in the SSD market over the past couple of years. Intel still seems like the safest bet, and these days they're even offering a pretty compelling value.

The 80GB X25-M G2 is finally selling for reasonable prices and earlier this month Intel launched its first value SSD: the X25-V. Priced at $125, the X25-V gives you much of the performance of the X25-M but at a lower cost and capacity point. It's a great way to safely transition to an SSD.

it's fun to run on a test rig, but on a system you want just to "work", 0 downtime is preferred over a slight improvement in performance. But that of course is up to each individual's choice

That possibility has never really bothered me.. I have everything I cant loose backed up in 10 different locations so loosing one of my raid arrays would just loose me a some movies, music, games, or my folder of apps.. Even my OS is on a raid0 array right now.. My 2 storage arrays are convenient though.. Unraring a 50gb file from one 2x400gb raid0 to a second 2x400gb raid0 array is MUCH faster than trying to unrar it on a stand alone 400gb drive.. It is a hassle loosing all my apps, but nine times out of ten, I have had them so long that I'd need to download updated versions for them all anyway..

nice, but I would never put any data on a RAID-0 volume; if the controller loses it's config, you swap motherboards, one of the SSDs acts up... etc..; you lose it all in a heartbeat .
