AMD Thuban 6-Core CPU UnOfficial Named Confirmed: Phenom II X6

Motherboard maker Biostar has posted some preview information on one of its coming motherboards for AMD's Socket AM3 platform. This preview not only reveals a lot of information on the new chipset, AMD 890GX, but also confirms the name of AMD's hexa-core Thuban processor. The processor is referred to Phenom II X6 in the press release and Biostar TA890GXE is said to be perfect for the CPU.

The AMD 890GX chipset will be the base of the Leo platform together with Phenom II X6 and it will bring an integrated graphics circuit with DX10.1 support and UVD 2.0. The clock frequency of the IGP is the same, 700MHz, as the current 790GX chipset.
