ASUS ROG Ares "Dual Radeon 5870" to cost around $1000

ASUS ROG Ares will be similar to Radeon HD 5970 in the way that it uses two graphics processors. The difference is that Ares' Cypress GPUs will run at full speed and so will the 4GB (!) GDDR5 memory.

To handle this ASUS rebuilt the circuit board that just like Mars is higher than we're used to and comes with three PCI Express power connectors, two 8-pins and one 6-pins. This means that the card can, in theory, consume up to 525W, which leaves plenty of space for overclocking.

So; this card is 2xHD 5870 on one PCB
HD 5970 is two HD 5870 on one PCB with lower GPU clocks.
you can OC most HD 5970 to HD 5870 clocks... making this $1000 card... uhm... useless?
unless the 2gb per GPU will prove to be of enough incentive... but make sure you're running triple 30"screens with 8xAA enabled and EyeFinity
