So did I, but today you can configure the client for more advanced projects... even single-core CPU's can do them. My Pentium M laptop generates around 275 PPD.
I don't fold with any older machines today, power costs are not worth it when a modern computer is 30x+ faster + can do GPU work on the side. The higher the system hardware requirements for larger project sizes, and the faster the completion time both will raise the PPD that can be attained from different projects. Bigadv for example requires 6GB of RAM.
Looking into it atm, but am afraid of my electric bill (been there done that and it wasn't nice to see or pay )

I also forgot to mention that GPU clients still require CPU overhead... so having additional CPU power to run a GPU or two while folding would work best. Just one GPU client can slow down the bigadv folding to knock 10,000 or more points off the early completion bonus. All bigadv units have a variable bonus, and an overall 6 day deadline. Must finish the WU inside 4 days to get any bonus. Bigadv works on as many as 32-core systems...
Leeghoofd, I'll PM you the details + links This requires a 64bit Linux install, native or virtual machine. (I use a VM).

With -bigadv folding you can get some huge points from just CPU folding. Bigadv work units are designed for 8+ core machines... Using 8 threads, my Core i7 920 @ 4.2GHz takes 31 minutes per cycle on project 2683, 100 cycles. Need 6GB of RAM too. Extreme system requirements for bigadv projects + early completion bonuses means 65,000+ points is not out of the question per WU.
You pay your electric bill to run your heater... why not pay your electric bill to run the computer (That is doing something useful) instead of the heater?

Grrr.... hopefully priced so high that I won't be tempted.
