ATI Radeon HD 5970 Overclocked To 1025Mhz GPU On Air Cooling

@ 2009/11/18
Less than 24 hours and the card is already overclocked, still air cooled, but we're past the CCC limit of 1000Mhz, and also past the vGPU limit
Ok guys, I worked like this.

- raise voltage up to 1.162/1.15 with ATI OV
- raise vGPU up to 1.262 with Afterburner
- close Afterburner
- raise clocks up to 1000/1200 with CCC
- raise fan up to 100% with CCC
- close CCC
- open Afterburner again and set fan to 100% (otherwise it goes down after a while).
- bench

No, in order to get 1025MHz core (past CCC limits), you set 1.29v in Afterburner, and after you close CCC you have to open AMD GPU Clock Tool and set the clocks there, then open Afterburner and set the fan to 100%).
His 3DMark Vantage Score of 27405 doesn't quite rock the world, until you take into account that CPU is only clocked at 4.2Ghz where as WR are made with 5.4-5.6Ghz CPU monsters. The GPU-only score of 27875 is less than 1000 points away from current WR
