Bill Calder, the corporate communications manager at Intel, admits that Intel has “a complex structure with too many platform brands, product names, and products brands” and has “made things confusing for consumers and IT buyers in the process.” He also said that Intel had been trying hard to make the brand structure easier to understand.

To put it simple, 8-thread processors belong to Core i7, 4-thread processors supporting Turbo Boost technology go to Core i5, and the processors which don’t support Turbo Boost are Core i3.
