1ghz+ ARM "Snapdragon" netbooks previewed

Qualcomm was yet another company who decided to throw a press conference the day before Computex actually started, which does catch most media out. But it's just as well us die hard enthusiasts are always here early. Jim Doe addressed the audience on the overview of Qualcomm's new "Snapdragon" processors. Qualcomm has mass produced the Snapdragon chip line with 40 new designs in the works. The Snapdragon processor is a 45nm 1.3GHz ARM processor (QSD8650A) with power and performance (fpu) enhancements. During the Qualcomm Technologies press conference in Taipei earlier today, we spotted an upcoming prototype Eee PC which was quite a bit if difference from the norm. Because of the platforms “extremely low power consumption”, no cooling is required which allows for ultra thin netbooks. It is capable of playing back 720p video with the current gen chips, and in the future 1080p will be supported with the faster clock processors.
