Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 may dip to $163 next quarter

Intel's second-cheapest quad-core processor will see a $20 price cut next quarter, but don't look forward to any cheaper Core 2 Quads, says Fudzilla. The site has word that Intel will push the Core 2 Quad Q8300 to $163 in the third quarter of this year.

For what it's worth, the Q8300 runs at 2.5GHz and has 4MB of cache, a 1,333MHz front-side bus, a 95W power envelope, and no virtualization support. Ordering one from Newegg right now will set you back roughly $190. The slower, 2.33GHz Q8200 currently sits at the $163 step in Intel's pricing ladder, but Fudzilla says that processor won't drop any further. Instead, it may simply coexist with the Q8300 at the same price point for a while before vanishing.
