Windows 7 Release Candidate Publically Available

@ 2009/05/05
Welcome to Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) testing. We’re on our way to Windows 7, and the RC is a great opportunity for IT professionals like you to take Windows 7 and begin testing it in your real environment. You get to see what’s coming, and we get to see if our changes and fixes from the Beta testing are working correctly. We want to encourage you to install and actively test the RC code. This will help us ensure Windows 7 is the best possible release, and help you get ready for Windows 7 deployment.
The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010.

I've seen it before, but I don't remember if a reboot cleared it or I fixed it with a driver reinstall.

9600 GT with 185.85 WHQL
from NVIDIA site;

have not seen such a bug under Vista though (have it on another HDD for that system... never encountered this)

My install of WIndows 7 RC took a hair under 17 minutes counting from first mouse click to an idle desktop. Single 750GB disc, Core i7 920 system.

JMke, I've seen that before in Vista. It's a display driver issue... are you using the WHQL drivers? 185.85, not 185.81? Or AMD's new WHQL drivers...

Rocker, what I am saying is that that is normal. XP is not able to understand the ISO-13346 file system that the iso is encoded in. You can burn the ISO to disk anyway with the proper program. IMGBurn will doo that.

definitely still some bugs in this RC

Comment from Kenshi @ 2009/05/09
I had that with Vista as well already.
Dunno what causes it, but it's not really new.

Just reinsert the disc for a sec and it will start most of the time

you definitely have some bottleneck holding you back, my guess is a slowmoleass DVD-drive

It took 10min just to get to the point where you can selct country, then another 10min to be able to press "install now", another 5 (approx.) to be able to format my drive, then another 5-10min before the "unpacking" would go beyond 0%.

After that I figured it out that removing/replacing the dvd is the trick, the disc spins up and the installation continues quicker.

It took about an hour in the end I guess, which I find A LOT on a top end system (X58, i7 965, 6Gb Ram, SSD)

where are you downloading the RC from?

did you use the ones from here: http://www.madshrimps.be/vbulletin/f...51/#post237012
they are in .ISO format, nothing else.
use a download manager

I think you dont get my point.

I dl the RC,but in the folder where i dl the RC in,all what is there is a readme file,no iso,get it.

I will use Nero for making that dvd,but first i have to buy a dvd-writer.
Comment from Kougar @ 2009/05/07
ROcker, sounds like you are burning a data disc... you need software that recognizes it's a disc image and burns it as a bootable disc.

This program is free and works well: http://www.imgburn.com/

what software are you using the burn the DVD?
