How To Bring Back the Old Menus in Office 2007

@ 2009/03/09
Using the new Ribbon feature in Office 2007 takes time to learn…time you don't have because projects are stacking up. Today we will look at UBitMenu, a utility that puts the familiar Office 2003 menu into the 2007 ribbon.

When I first tried Office 2007 it took a lot of frustrating time figuring out where all of the features were located. It is laid out much differently than previous versions of office. When the "pointy-haired bosses" require deadlines to be met you don't have time to learn where everything is. This is where UBitMenu comes in, it places the classic 2003 menu in as a new ribbon.

Yes, but that delays the inevitable? Can't use the old interface forever, and the new one is so much more powerful and quicker to use.

because you've been using it for the last 10 years and learned where everything is and then you are dropped in the unknown; for some relearning is part of the challenge, but for most getting things done with the application instead of learning again how to do things is more important; so if they can get their old style menu again for no cost; I don't see the downside;

Microsoft did screw up with the ribbon interface by not providing the classic menu anymore for those who want it.

btw this addon doesn't work for Word 2007 unfortunately

Sure it takes lots of getting used to and some learning of how its arranged... but after learning it the interface change is much easier and quicker to use than the 2003 menu tree style. If anything that looks more confusing as they added new menus and moved things around.
