AMD Phenom II X4 3.2Ghz Planned for April Launch

@ 2009/03/02
Back in January, we read that AMD was planning to launch a 3.1GHz Phenom II X4 950 processor in the mid-second-quarter. Today, HKPEC quotes sources at motherboard makers as saying AMD has cancelled that chip—and, because of better-than-expected yields, the company will instead release the 3.2GHz Phenom II X4 955 in April.

According to HKEPC, the Phenom II X4 955 will have the same 125W power envelope and 8MB of total cache as the current top-of-the-line Phenom II. However, it will be 200MHz faster, and it will be a Socket AM3 part with support for DDR3-1333 memory. (The current Phenom II X4 940 only works with DDR2.)
