XFX 285 GTX 1GB Review

@ 2009/02/23
While NVIDIA keep the crown for single-GPU performance with
GeForce GTX 285 1GB, $380 ain't cheap for a video card. Furthermore,
Radeon HD 4850 X2 2 GB could be obtained for about hundred less and in
some situations it is indeed faster than GTX 285. And while HD 4850 X2
even with the newest BIOS is still noisy, anything but energy
efficient, very dependent on software support - games optimized for
Crossfire and drivers (something not too many people are willing to
depend on and would rather turn down), still a 30% difference in price
is something to think about. Anyway NVIDIA GPUs still got CUDA and
PhysX and if we consider Far Cry 2 which comes with XFX GTX 285 1GB -
it's a really good deal after all. We'd give the card 8.5/10 for
performance and no more than 7.5/10 for its bang-for-buck ratio.
