GELID Solutions Silent Spirit CPU cooler with LGA 1366 mounting kit review

@ 2009/02/02
We originally took a look at GELID Solutions' Silent Spirit CPU cooler back in November, where it rather impressed us at its particular price point when it came to cooling a quad-core Core 2 system quietly and effectively. Since the cooler's original launch, GELID have made a Socket LGA 1366 mounting kit available for this part, so today we revisit the Silent Spirit coupled with this accessory to see how effective it is at cooling Intel's latest Core i7 CPUs.

The rear of the box gives details on how to install this retention mechanism and fit the cooler to your system. Thankfully, this is simplicity itself, and involves simply unscrewing the Socket LGA 775 clips, replacing them with the Socket LGA 1366 clips included in this package, and then installing the cooler in the normal way using the standard Intel "push-pin" mechanism.
