Intel Quietly Intros Dual-Core Celeron M Microprocessors

Intel Corp. has added two low-cost dual-core microprocessors for notebooks into its lineup, the updated price-list of the chip giant revealed on Monday. The new Celeron M microprocessors will allow system builders to create inexpensive notebooks featuring two processing engines that will better handle multitasking and multimedia applications.

The new central processing units (CPUs) are dual-core Intel Celeron Mobile T1600 and T1700, which operate at 1.66MHz and 1.83GHz, respectively, feature 1MB of L2 cache and utilize 667MHz processor system bus. The new chips are made using 65nm process technology and have thermal design power of 35W. Intel sells the T1600 and T1700 chips for $86 and $80 in 1000-unit quantities, respectively.
