Intel quietly intros three new desktop CPUs

The Celeron E1500, Pentium E5300, and Core 2 Quad Q8300.

The new Core 2 Quad certainly looks the most noteworthy, being a relatively affordable step up from the $190 Core 2 Quad Q8200. This new model has the same 45nm Penryn design, 4MB of L2 cache, and 1,333MHz front-side bus as the Q8200, but it runs at 2.5GHz instead of 2.33GHz and costs $224 in 1,000-unit quantities. Intel's similarly-clocked Core 2 Quad Q9300, which has 6MB of L2 cache, remains at $266 in Intel's price list.
