@ 2008/11/30Phenom II X4 925 will launch in February at 2.8GHz, as the fastest AM3, DDR3 enabled CPU. The fastest one, dubbed Phenom II X4 945, will launch at some point in Q2 2009.
The good point of Phenom II X4 925 and 945 is that they will also work in socket AM2+ motherboards but it might be a while until we see any Phenom II faster than 3GHz. We've seen them overclocking to around 4GHz, and there should be enough headroom for even higher speeds, but we reckon that at 3GHz the CPU reaches the magical 125W TDP and this time AMD doesn’t plans to go over that number.
