New S3 Chrome graphics card is cheap, has built-in HD audio

Every so often, S3 posts a press release to remind everyone that AMD and Nvidia aren't the only two companies to offer discrete GPUs. After revealing last month that it, too, is working on general-purpose GPU technology, S3 has launched a brand new graphics card: the Chrome 530 GT.

At first glance, this card looks very similar to the Chrome 430 GT that came out back in March. Both apparently have 65nm graphics chips clocked at 625MHz, 500MHz DDR2 memory on a 64-bit bus, DirectX 10.1 support, and the ability to speed up the decoding of H.264, VC-1, and MPEG2-HD video. The 530 GT stands out by packing 512MB of memory (instead of 256MB) and featuring a built-in 7.1-channel HD audio controller, which allows it to pipe audio through the HDMI port.
