OCZ sneaks out Solid SSD value series

@ 2008/11/10
OCZ has been one of the most prominent actors on the Solid State Drive market over the last year and it has now announced a new budget series called the Solid Series. The new series includes three new models, 30GB, 60GB and 120GB where all use the 2.5" format and SATA 3.0 interface. The SSD device is equipped with a mini-USB port for upgrading firmware and such.

The listed specs are in line with other MLC-based Solid State Drives with a write speed at 90MB/s and read speed at 155MB/s. Prices are around $90 (30GB), $175 (60GB) and $300 (120GB). If they deliver as promised they certainly look like an interesting alternative for those who are looking for a more affordable SSD.

Are these the same drives with the Jmicron controller that stutter uncontrollably during small random writes?
Because, if so, they are pretty much useless...

$175 for 60Gb speedy boot/app drive is not too exaggerated
