Intel Core i7-965 expected to retail for ~€1000

Intel is preparing the launch of their next generation platform, the socket LGA1366 based CPUs previously known as Nehalem, now Core i7. At launch there will be three models available, each one has 8Mb of L2 cache and has the high speed interconnect, QPI.

Entry level is the Core i7-920 at 2.66Ghz and 4.8GT/sec QPI at ~€260, followed by the Core i7-940 at 2.93Ghz also 4.8GT/sec QPI, at steeper price at ~€510. The high end is reserved for the Extreme Edition Core i7-965 clocked at 3.2Ghz and 6.4GT/sec QPI, prepare to pay ~€1000 for that one.

These are all Quad Core CPUs with HyperThreading enabled, this means you'll see 8 CPUs in the OS:
