Microsoft on Track to Offer Anti-Virus Software

@ 2004/06/17
SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) is still on track to offer an anti-virus product that will compete against similar software offered by Symantec Corp. (SYMC.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Network Associates Inc. (NET.N: Quote, Profile, Research) , the world's largest software maker said late on Monday.

Mike Nash, chief of Microsoft's security business unit, told reporters that Microsoft is developing software to protect personal computers running Windows against malicious software, the worms and viruses that have plagued users with data loss, shutdowns and disruptions in Web traffic in recent years.

and may i ask one thing? wich OS are you running??
windows xp

Why I'm flaming at microsoft?
Well, they got enough money to make a much bette OS. But they don't do it.
Also because I have to format every month a few pc's :grum:
Also: 5 formats on the same pc on the same day before windows finaly works
Also: spontanious format after after update madia player ???
Also: lossing of very I'mportant data lucky I saved the day before.
Also: changing pasword from itself, so you can not enter the pc

1 thing I thing windows is very good at: It's VERY user friendly

I mean in use, because spontanious format is not user friendly

1 word, microsoft

BTW, If they do it like usual and buy another company. Why most of there products sucks. Except there games (ensemble studios).
But maybe it is because it runs on windows. Firefox is also crashing very much for that reason.

it would be easyer to attack, if most people have M$-AV, the writers will make newer viri that M$-AV won't recognise. (+ they don't have the experience to make one, how good can it be ?). I'll stay with Anti-vir and avast.

its actually a very good step forward and will increase overall security for the average user since most user don't have any anti-virus client installed.. at all.

together with SP2 it will hopefully reduce the possible attacks on the Win OS
