Koolance PSU-1300ATX-12N Liquid Cooled Power Supply

@ 2008/07/22
The Koolance 1300w is the second Koolance power supply we have reviewed to date. The first Koolance unit we reviewed, the Koolance 1200w, was a very interesting power supply that came close to passing all of our tests but ultimately fell a bit short. That unit used its own self contained pump and radiator system making it something a user could use in most any setting. Today, Koolance has come back to the table with an extra 100 watts and a new cooling scheme that ties the Koolance 1300w into a Koolance liquid cooling loop. This makes the big question, can the Koolance 1300w with its new cooling scheme outperforms the last Koolance power supply we saw? Or has Koolance over reached with this new 1300w unit.

There really is no way to avoid the fact that at a list price of $624.99 the Koolance 1300w represents a very expensive niche product. However, to fit into its niche Koolance has quite literally crafted what is the most impressively built power supply we have seen to date by continuing with their trend of making power supply products work with their expertise of liquid cooling. This time rather than make a self contained unit Koolance has produced one that will tie into a user's existing compatible liquid cooling loop and do it in style. As an added bonus this unit features a capacity that is second to none for our readers who can take advantage of its 240v output capacity and among the absolute top capacity levels we have tested for our 120v readers. In the process of making what looks to be an amazing paper product, Koolance has not forgotten to put substance behind their designs as the Koolance 1300w is simply an excellent product that produced very good results in our load testing (voltage regulation, efficiency, and temperature) and in specification results for DC Output Quality even when faced with an orthodox cooling system that seemed to contribute to its electrical noise profile.
