MacBook Airs Go Solar with the Apple Juicz

@ 2008/06/17
Quicktek has announced the Apple Juicz, a foldable solar panel that can be used to power Apple's Macbook Air notebook.

Even if you love the idea of Apple's MacBook Air super-thin notebook computers, you've probably noticed their built-in batteries aren't removable or swappable, which makes it nigh impossible to swap in another battery when you're on the road, out in the wild, or just need a little more juice.

also got solar polar to charge it when you're not near a power plug?
the reason the air has limited battery life is due to reduced battery size (duh) not because it's a power guzzler

Yes, but now find a portable ich is that small and with such battery time For a 13 inch screen.

Anyway, it's a nice gadget and it would be nice if it were made available for more laptops (and a bit less pricey too)

because 4 hours battery life is short?

Apple's 5 hour claim is laughable but not as much as I expected. If I wanted to I suspect I could hit 5 hours by making the web browsing test less stressful, but my focus was on real world usage scenarios, not proving Apple correct. Regardless, 4 hours and 16 minutes doing what I consider to be the intended usage model of the Air is respectable. It's not great, but it's not terrible either.

I'm not saying it's not cool, it IS cool
But it feels more like a patch for a crappy battery

Definitely cool. Have they said if the new Voodoo laptops are going to have a swappable battery? Because if they do, I'd prefer it to the Air.
Comment from jmke @ 2008/06/18
wutske you missed the point
the air has a power brick but when you're in the wild you can run on solar energy, quite cool
Comment from piotke @ 2008/06/18
No, because the macbook air consumes so little you can use a solar panel to power it.
Comment from wutske @ 2008/06/18
So, to use the world's thinnest laptop descently, you have to take a solar panel with you, making the macbook air nothing near the thinnest laptop ??? That's like ... buying a beertender and keep your beer in the fridge because the beertender isn't powerfull enough to cool your beer.

computer logics ... it's nothing near the word
