Intel Quad Core Yorkfield R0 stepping to arrive

@ 2008/05/26
We learned that Intel is about to release a new stepping for its Yorkfield quad core CPUs. The name will be R0-stepping and this new stepping should be better than the current C1-stepping.

The new stepping will arrive with a new batch of Yorkfield CPUs and let’s hope that this will increase the yields and efficiency of a pair of dual core 45nm stitched together into a quad core socket 775 CPU.

New "R0" stepping? That must stand for "Really 0" availability.

'Progress' like with G0 stepping, can we say 5 GHz now possible when air cooled?
