Nvidia plans 9800 GT

@ 2008/03/21
We learned that Nvidia plans a new card that will be branded as Geforce 9800 GT. For all we know this could simply be a renamed 8800 GT. We strongly believe that Nvidia will quickly phase out all the 8800 GT cards and simply rename it with a new old card.

The new thing that comes with Geforce 9 series is the ability to shut down under hybrid power marchitecture, and this might be the biggest difference between 8800 GT and the upcoming 9800 GT.

i'm going to want 3 way sli capability with the first 9 series card i get. i'm thinking they won't put it on the gt model in order to steer people toward the gtx model and jack up the price 50-100 bucks.... if i was nvidia and wanted to sell cards i would probably do that. anyone have any ideas on how long certain models last. because i want to be able to get another one of the same cards maybe even 3-4 years down the road.

I sold my 8800GT and bought a 9600GT
Don't know why...
Comment from jmke @ 2008/03/22
depends on the shop and the region. that IS for sure. Other sources told me 8800 GT is outselling 9600 GT

proves that neither statement came from a large inquiry, but rather a one/two shop affair

and in the end people don't buy their new product, 9600 GT seems be doing worse than 8800 GT, even for budget buyers, who don't know the 9600 and mistrust it

NVIDA's goal is to so totally confuse buyers that they won't know what exactly they are getting...
