Detailed pictures of MSI's P45D3 appear

Coolaler has got his hands on the upcoming Intel P45-based P45D3 Platinum from MSI, and among its new features is a re-designed chipset cooler which seems to have been designed to look somewhat like a motorcycle engine. It's also the first time we've seen a chipset cooler on an MSI board that features an external exhaust via the I/O shield.

The board itself looks pretty straight forward with a pair of x16 PCIe slots, although MSI has a pair of jumpers that enabled the second slot for Crossfire in dual x8 mode. However, it's only a pair of standard jumpers, so it's not too much of a hassle to switch over to dual slot mode. The board also has a pair of PCIe x1 and PCI slots. There's also a Molex connector for extra power to the graphics card slots.
