Real Temp new DTS sensor program using simple Ia32 driver

@ 2008/03/02
Here's a direct link to the 1st Post describing and instructions how to download and install all required files for RealTemp

The quote below is the first paragraph from the thread...

Quote:
This is the first public release of Real Temp which is a temperature monitoring program designed for all Intel single Core, dual Core and quad Core processors. Each core on these processors has a digital thermal sensor (DTS) that reports temperature data relative to TjMax which is the safe maximum operating core temperature for the CPU. As your CPU heats up, your Distance to TjMax will decrease. If it reaches zero your processor will start to throttle or slow down so obviously maximizing your distance away from TjMax will help your computer to run at full speed and more reliably too.

Other software like CoreTemp has taken this knowledge and tried to work backwards to convert DTS data to an absolute temperature which most users are more comfortable with and would like to compare.
I hope you like it...

Hehe Liquid3D. They changed this as of version 2.0, I think.

JMke, check the original thread! He updates the links in the original post with the new versions

sorry never mind I should have known JMKE wouldn't have overlooked that and after all these years, for shame......

Version 2.1 no longer requires or uses the IA32 driver.

Anandtech just elaborated a good bit on this, but suffice to say they haven't said anything that wasn't already mentioned here. Definitely adding this one to the flash drive toolkit.

that file IS included in the realtemp.zip already, you don't need to download it separately!

You also need this file, but you must read those instructions.

Looks like an advancement in the field. Does anyone have another download source?
Comment from Liquid3D @ 2008/03/03
Yeah, I just wanted to share in case anyone missed it...

seems that TjMAX is not a known value for desktop CPUs and is mostly "guessed", this creates errors comparing different system LOAD temps. But does not invalidate results had from the same system with different coolers
