The Cost of Switching Operating Systems

As any person who works for a company can probably attest to, corporations are like huge cruise ships when it comes to IT - they do not turn on a dime. They choose Windows because it is tried and true, everybody uses it, and they get official support from Microsoft.

no, software assurance, and feasible for smaller companies, they don't pay for getting Vista, if they don't use a lot of 3rd party software, the switch can be done in a weekend

I expected an article that said it is retarded for a company to switch to vista, yet 13% already did make the switch (MADNESS).

When I was working in IT for a brief stint at Citibank, one of the things that I was surprised at was the slowness at which a decision gets made. It takes forever to make a decision. Sometimes there can be multiple meetings on one topic and still nothing happens. And, yes, they loved big name software.
Not as simple as running a hardware website, I am afraid. Try lead a IT project that involve multi channel and cross divisional platform, then make your comments publicly. It takes time; good decision making process involve more than ONE person's opinion (yours).

Yes, they like "big" names because they could pay for their mistakes.
