ATI HD 3870 vs NVIDIA 8800 GT Review

@ 2007/11/14
Today we get our first look at the new AMD/ATI Radeon HD 3870 designed to take on the recently released GeForce 8800 GT from Nvidia. While the Radeon HD 3870 looks overwhelming on paper when compared to the GeForce 8800 GT, we have found in the past that on paper and real-world gaming are two very different things. Can AMD/ATI pull a rabbit out of their hat with this one?

The R600 was overwhelming on paper, not these cards. One thing that is surprising is The HD 3870 actually draws less power than the 8800GT, not something I was expecting given ATI/R600's "hot" history.

Good thing those are 55nm chips, they better be ready to live in the low-margin end of the GPU business for awhile...

OMG this looks even worse than I thought

I hope AMD/ATi can keep in business with these cards :s
