Intel is planning to launch its Eaglelake series chipsets for mainstream desktop platforms in the second and third quarters of 2008, while the Tylersburg-DT platform for high-end systems will follow in the fourth quarter, according to sources at motherboard makers.

It only makes sense... They can disable the memory controller on X48 since Nehalem has one built in, but it won't be nearly that simple to make X48 compatible with CSI if at all I would suspect. It just underlines the absurdity of Intel's greed to milk the top 2-5% of the PC market for everything they can wring out of it, then make it obsolete overnight to start the process anew with Nehalem and new chipsets.

So X38 has lifespan of 2~3 Quaters, X48 only 2?
