640GB PCI Express Flash Drive Costs $19,000

If a measly 64GB solid state drive just doesn’t cut it for your needs, Fusion-io has a new 640GB flash based hard drive that slips into a PCI-Express x4 slot. Fusion-io promises some very swift speeds from the drive in the neighborhood of 600 Mbytes/sec sustained write speed (4000Mbytes/sec random) and 800 Mbytes/sec sustained read (8,000 Mbytes/sec random).

Doesn't look like a "hot" card at all in fact, passive cooling, ram chips don't need passive cooling in our systems either

I know, I thought it was a typo when I read that! My question would be how hot does that card get though... must take a fair amount of power especially for the controller, which is what I think is under that heatsink?

If I win the lottery, this will be my PC upgrade instead of a new car It would almost make RAM obsolete...

This is the future of storage devices! Look at the read/write speed, this will make you PC fast, finally the bottleneck will be reduced! Now to only get that price down to $190 instead of those three extra zeros...
