Ditching the Desktop for a Laptop

@ 2007/09/11
Laptops are cool, convenient and fun. No doubt about it. I enjoy using mine. But, just keep in mind…most laptops today are Fords, not Toyotas. They run fine when they’re new but they have a higher failure rate. Laptops are definitely a higher per-year investment than a desktop. You may pay more money for a laptop and it probably will not last as long. And when it fails, chances are you’re looking for a new laptop.

biggest downside: since I have a laptop I spend more time behind a computer . Even when I'm tired I can work on a pc, I just hop in bed, take my laptop and continue surfing, chatting untill my eyes start to hurt

It all depends on how the laptop is used; parts are built more rugged than desktop; HDD can withstand more Gforce.

Keyboard is the first to go if you type a lot, use external keyboard whenever possible at your desk in the office or home and hook up to external monitor is also a good idea.

They last just as long as desktop.
