Graphics Card Overclocking - Worth It?

@ 2004/01/02
yes you are quite right. overclocking the Gpu will get you only a 5% increase...
but think of this... add a 5% increase from your graphics card + 10-15% from your processor + 8% from your memory and you have
aprox... 20% increase.. which is not bad when paying only 50 euros for cooling devices.. buy a lian-li case and good fans..light it up nicely and you will have 25+% increase..
check out watercooling??? get up to a minimum of 30% if done right(cpu speaking)

If I overclock my ti4200 from 275/600 to 285/640 it only gives me about 350 extra 3dmarks (2001) so It's indeed not worth it, unless you do it like uncle Calantak.

article is about current GPU's, not old ones.

I once almost doubled the performance of my tnt2

stfu JMke, 1 mhz can feel like a personal win

the article focuses on the GPU overclocking solely though, and it is true that by overclocking only the GPU can hardly see any increase worth the risc.

see just your gpu got 10%...add cpu(a 2.4C can go to 3.2)...and your memory..(266DDR to 333DDR)

with a PELTIER and WATERCOOLING you forgot to add
Comment from calantak @ 2004/01/02
my gpu got from a 9800 pro to core 500/mem 800
I guess that qualifies as 10% increase
