Microsoft cuts price of Vista by half..

THE RETAIL PRICE OF Microsoft Vista was cut by over a half in China on Wednesday in a bid to prevent widespread piracy of the OS. According to the Wall Street Journal, the price cuts on Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium are to encourage people to use the legal version of the OS.

Hmmm, waits for SP1 to go on sale in China then seeks internet sale....

You have to hand it to them. They were able to make a crappy product and still sell it. Not as much as they'd have hoped, but they did sell a lot of copies.
It's like a car manufacturing company building a very crappy car and still sell a whole lot of them

But me personally I've already had enough of it. Half the time the bloody OS doesn't even receive an IP from the DHCP server. And my lappy has crashed twice because of an automatic update.

I have always said "pricings for all software should be based on local income". People normally don't want to "steal" if you are not "hungry"; well except a few. Average income in the US is about $36k; Vista is ~$120 which is about one month average pay in China.

We could say the same for Russia and certain countries in South America. Coka Cola follows the rule; price according to local income in most countries.

Bleh, why not cut the price in half for the rest of us too?
