InkJet Printers Lying, Or Just Wrong?

A new study says that on average, more than half of the ink from inkjet cartridges is wasted when users toss them in the garbage. Why is that interesting? According to the study, users are tossing the cartridges when their printers are telling them they're out of ink, not when they necessarily are out of ink.

They also pointedly ignore that their own Epson cartridges bundled with their printers have had issues with the chips prematurely telling users they are out of ink. Epson has been giving free replacement cartridges to those that call in and complain about it, but so far they've been keeping it under the rug. (Likely thanks to their just ended-settlement of the last suit against them for ink issues) Out of the two Epson owners I know, myself included, the other guy is already out of color ink after printing just webpages... when I've printed color photos, pages, and everything else and have owned my printer longer then he has.
