Klipsch DMX-5.1

@ 2003/11/01
Does anyone know how to obtain this sweet speakersystem in Europe for a decent price?

At newegg.com it costs 207 euros (240$). The cheapest European price I can find is 500 euros... that's 150% more expensive!!
Comment from Tarantula @ 2003/12/01
aren't those the ones web56n has? (from seeing the pics of his mod I'd think so)
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/12/01
een goed stel boxen koop je en verkoop je niet zo rap he

luidsprekersets verouderen nu eenmaal niet zo rap he
Comment from jmke @ 2003/12/01
dus zoals ik al zei, zo'n zaken pas overwegen te kopen als je het in een korte tijdspanne wilt aanschaffe
Comment from calantak @ 2003/12/01
en den bouw duurt nu nog twee jaar...
Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/30
En het zal nog een tijdje duren voor de volgende klipsch serie op de markt komt
Comment from TerAngreal @ 2003/11/30
.. enkel wanneer de volgende serie op de markt komt ...

en da's ook maar teneinde hun stock te verkopen
Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/30
Waarde van kwaliteitshifi daalt zo goed als niet.
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/30
wat is met 486 dan nu waard??
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/30
ja de prijs zal er zeker niet van dalen over de tijd, IT materiaal stijgt altijd in waarde
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/30
ge kunt hem bewaren he tot de bouw af is
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/30
fenomenaal... maar ik heb momenteel geen plaats om dat te zetten, tedjuu toch, was die bouw nu al maar af...
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/30
According to ChallengeComputers is it the same set. In their description they're talking bout the D-5.1 and the pic is there...
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/30
is this the same set??
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/29
€389 is too much for mee but 257 sounds okay
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/29
Just got a mail from AED.be:
Quote:
Beste,
Bedankt voor de interesse in Klipsch.
De GMX 5.1 zal vanaf eind volgende week leverbaar zijn.
Verkoopprijs : 389 ˆ incl BTW
Mvg
AED import & Distribution
Alain Michiels
It looks like the prices are the same for all the sets all over BE.

*EDIT*: Check this out...
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/14
I think € 389 is a very nice price for such a nice set.
But still, if we can get it cheaper.
Comment from TerAngreal @ 2003/11/13
auw.
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/13
above ground.

@ terA : not you, there is one house beside it that needs to stay
Comment from TerAngreal @ 2003/11/13
looking for someone to operate that bulldozer?

(would be a mad modding project for sure)
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/13
underground?
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/13
you didn't want them over 200 euro's

moving?
i've just bought a new place, ready to be taken down by bulldozer early next year, starting the "calantak's domesticon"-thing
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/13
they'll fit nicely in my new house/appartement
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/13

mpl has them at 389 euro...they are mostly expensive, so somebody in belgium should at least get them @ 300 euro's...

really? Have someone for your roof already?? Send me the plans and I'll make you a price you can't resist

I could use such a speaker set, just to have something to compare the creative 7.1 with... but 200 euro, nah.

that's not what I meant.

I think it was weird to expect 200 euro for sth rated @ 299
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
I wrote "most 5.1 sets".

overpower klipsh ?
i ""read"" somewhere that the output can give a good 108dB
thats like a live concert in your room

Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
re-read that last phrase please.. I'm referring to the Hi-fi...
Comment from piotke @ 2003/11/07
but a sound set shouldn't be portable so ....
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
how's that?
upgrading a good hifi to a surround set which costs more then the hifi to begin with is insane imho

that hifi's bass has specs @ 300watt and will blow most 5.1 sets away. but it is less portable
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/07
weird person =
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
yes, I'm sure the price is competitive, but for me personally I don't need an all round set, got a great hi-fi hooked up to my PC.

if by some miracle the price would be ~€200 .. I'd consider changing.
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/07
It costs $299.99 at the Klipsch online store, so it 'll be like 350 or so here in Belgium i'm afraid. (still a doable price compared to the Magaworks from Creative...)
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
good, so it better be 200 then
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/07
it will NEVER be below 200
Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/07
€200 is my limit, if it will be more , count me out
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/07
if it's only 250-275, it's perfectly doable
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/06
I hope it won't be to expensive.
I saw a digital decoder on the klipsch webshop, and it costs about $170. At AED it costs €200. So I expect the set to be about €75 more expensive then in the US. Not that big a problem huh?
...now saving some money...
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/06
i think that the only thing thta will not be quite handy is the remote control, when you are gaming you have to find the volumebutton with your eyes closed, and here that isn't quite that

with the "sound over looks" statement i was meaning the cabling, since calantak asked whether they were available as a wireless set or not ...

obviously, this design easily tops every single set creative has ever made, and even surpasses Logitech's Z-680 design, which is quite nice i'd say ...
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/06
count me in if the prise is reasonable

maybe buying outside belgium ( germany, the netherlands,... ) and then someone can drive to get the speakers and distributes them to everybody ( if it ain't to far )

Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/06
I'll ask him as soon as they arrive in december, but 200 euro sounds very unrealistic.
Comment from Da_BoKa @ 2003/11/06
i'm looking for one too, so i'll search for some reviews and if the price is right you can sign me in

Comment from jmke @ 2003/11/06
€200 is fair, sign me in.
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/06
richyB, calantak, achmalach, terangreal, who wants these for newyear?
I'm feeling like a gigantic speaker give-away

Comment from TerAngreal @ 2003/11/06
sorry to hear richb ...

always the same deal with klipsch : mighty fine sets they produce, but incredibly hard to get a hold of in belgium - for a decent price that is ... if the price was right, i'd buy me one of the above immediately

couldn't care less about the wires, i'd fix the satellites to my walls anyway so i would do the same thing with cabling

sound is much more importanto then looks
Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/06
I know. The owner of aed.be was a good friend, but he died a few months back from cancer. He was still pretty young... sad story.

We used to get great prices (their list prices are high, but they have to because it has to be higher than the shops they distribute to), but I don't want to ask favours just after his dad died.
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/06
please do keep us informed when you know just how much they cost!
Comment from AchMalAch @ 2003/11/06
So there is someone else searching for these beaties too.
at www.aed.be they distribute the Klipsch brand (as shown on www.klipsch.com ). I also asked them when these pieces of art would come available, and the answer was december. The price is still unknown...
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/02
apparently they'rev quite loud too
Comment from Sarcastro @ 2003/11/01
I always thought that Klipsch was a german brand.
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/01
520 euro's is too much
Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/01
Indeed, total sum would be:
- 200 euro's for the speakers
- 30 euro's international wire transfer
- 50 euro's importtax
- 240 euro's UPS
=
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/01
+ don't forget...
two weeks after you get a nice little extra bill from the importservice, just got an extra 25 euro bill from fedex for my whitewaterblock...
Comment from RichBa5tard @ 2003/11/01
I think it will be a long time before we see high quality wireless speakers that run on batteries.

I found a US shop that only asks 200 euro and ships international. Only problem: UPS charges 240 euro's for delivery.
Comment from calantak @ 2003/11/01
they sure look extremely nice!!
if they'd make this wireless, I'd pay anything
can you imagine all the wiring?
