NVIDIA 8800 Ultra to arrive mid May

@ 2007/04/10
A BLOGGER over at VR-Zone claims that an Nvidious conference call confirmed the GeForce 8800 Ultra for release on May 15, with reviews hitting the interwibble on May 1.

Whilst we're pretty sure that chaps on conference calls aren't supposed to talk about this stuff, the 8800 is 'confirmed' as a single-chip card, rather than the dual-chip hybrid SLI-a-like rumoured 8950 GX2. We suspect this is because Nvidia has had more than enough trouble getting SLI working on Vista, without releasing a product that relies on it for baseline performance.

Well, if DT is wrong regarding the GX2 status, then maybe they are wrong about the $999 tag as well? I really can't see $400 covering ONLY a blistering factory overclock and faster, GDDR4 memory. Maybe it will come with a built-in PSU?
