Seagate is working on 10.000rpm Desktop HDDs

Seagate is readying a 10.000rpm hard drive to compete directly with
Western Digital Raptor hard drives, they feel that the demand for this
disks for the desktop market is big enough and that also the cost of
producing such a hard drive is low enough.

Hm, I do have to wonder if this is in part related to the threat of some SSDs begining to encroach on regular 7200RPM performance territory.

Either way I'd be interested in seeing what they offer, they already make some very excellent enterprise market 10k and 15k RPM drives.

If they said super-quiet 10000 RPM drive I could see demand.

There is MORE demand for 3.5" SSD HDs in the retail channel but noone sells them either.
